Girls run the world! March 8 is International Women’s Day, a time to reflect on progress, call for change, and celebrate women who are making the world a better place. In 1898, Marie Curie published strong evidence supporting the existence of a new element—radium. In 1955, Rosa Parks took a seat and sparked a civil rights movement. In 1967, Katherine Switzer made history as the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon. Throughout history, women have continued to change the world. Whether we are talking about the names we all know, or the everyday heroes we find in mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and sisters, each and every woman has made an impact on the world in her own way.
We are celebrating International Women’s Day with a 5k! Who has had an impact in your life? Who are you running for? Here’s to strong women.
